Policies
We love animals, but to maintain the historic charm of the Carter Notch Inn, we do not allow guest pets onto the property.
Carter Notch Inn is located in a High Fire Danger Area; therefore we are a non-smoking, tobacco-free, vapor-free property both inside and outside the building for the health and courtesy of all our guests. If you are a smoker, there is a Smoking Joe Tower in the back corner of the parking lot where you are permitted to smoke and leave your discarded cigarette butts.
Smoking is considered “damages.” Guests are financially responsible for any damages to the rooms or public spaces. Eating meals is not permitted in the Guest Rooms. Violation of any of these policies will result in a minimum charge of $500.00 due to the expenses we incur to remediate any damages and the loss of income.

Booking in advance is always advisable to ensure your preferred room is available. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have about the rooms. Call (800) 794-9434 or (603) 383-9630 for information and reservation confirmation.
We accept reservations up to 12 months in advance. Please check the website for minimum stay requirements, as it varies throughout the year. Weekends and holiday weeks are subject to a minimum stay.
Singles may deduct $10 from listed rates. Add $35 for extra person in rooms 2 and 7. All room rates are subject to New Hampshire 9% tax.
To secure your reservation, A deposit of one night’s stay is required and is applied to the balance due on your scheduled departure day. We accept Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
Rooms 1, 2, 3, & 5 are located on the second floor & Rooms 6, 7, 8, & 9 are located on the third floor of this historic building. All rooms have private bathrooms, alarm clocks, hair dryers & personal toiletries. Each of our guest rooms benefit from air conditioning and have their own unique personalities, tastefully decorated with antiques and country style arts and crafts.
This is our home and we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
Check-In and Check-Out
Check-in is any time between 3 and 7 pm, if you will be arriving later than 7 pm, please call us at (800) 794-9434. Check-out time is by 11 am on your departure date.
Cancellations
A cancellation fee of $30 per room within any time frame will be forfeited. The remainder of the deposit will be refunded if booking is cancelled 15 days prior to your arrival date. Modifications to your reservation requested, more than 30 days prior to arrival, are accepted subject to availability. We are unable to accommodate any modifications to your reservation 30 days or less prior to your arrival.
If a booked room is cancelled between 8 – 14 days prior to arrival date the entire deposit will be forfeited. For cancellations made 7 or less days prior to arrival, we must hold you financially responsible for the entire length of your booked stay.
We do not offer refunds for late arrivals or early departures. If a guest departs prior to reserved length of stay the charge for the entire stay will be forfeited.
Autumn Season Cancellations
A cancellation fee of $30 per room within any time frame will be forfeited. The remainder of the deposit will be refunded if booking is cancelled 30 days prior to your arrival date. Modifications to your reservation requested, more than 30 days prior to arrival, are accepted subject to availability.
We are unable to accommodate any modifications to your reservation 30 days or less prior to your arrival, i.e. once past the 30 days prior to your arrival you are financially responsible for all nights in your original reservation. If your original reservation was for 4 nights and you change it to 2 or 3 nights, you will be charged for the original reservation of all 4 nights.
For cancellations made thirty days or less prior to arrival, we must hold you financially responsible for the entire length of your booked stay.
Covid-19 Statement
We have taken enhanced health and safety measures for you and all our Guests, and our wonderful staff. Currently, an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19, a contagious disease, could exist in any public place where people are present. By visiting Carter Notch Inn, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree to hold harmless Carter Notch Inn.
